Antique 9ct Gold & Amethyst Brooch, c.1890-1910

An elegant late Victorian to early Edwardian brooch, centred with a beautifully faceted oval amethyst.

The amethyst displays soft violet and lilac tones, shifting beautifully with the light, and is simply collet-set to allow the stone to take centre stage.  A delicate applied rope-twist border surrounds the setting, adding subtle texture and character. 

Crafted in 9 carat gold and stamped 9CT to the reverse.  The brooch retains its traditional long pin setting, characteristic of jewellery from the period.

A wonderfully wearable antique jewel, appealing worn on a jacket, lapel or scarf.
